Is Germany doing enough on European defense

Germany says it will hit the NATO defense spending target of 2% of GDP in 2024 for the first time in many years. But critics say it’s not enough – and there is no long-term plan. There are also calls for European countries to coordinate their own nuclear defences using French and UK nuclear weapons – after Donald Trump’s warnings that he might not defend a low-spending ally from Russian attack. Germany is also feeling the pressure over military support for Ukraine, with Olaf Scholz insisting it’s doing more than other European allies while so far resisting calls to provide Taurus cruise missiles. So is Germany doing enough? Defense analyst Ulrike Franke speaks to DW’s Richard Walker at the Munich Security Conference.
