R.I.P Small Family Farms – 300 acres not enough
Arable Farmer Ian Shaw had a tough conversation with his family last year. Knowing he was unlikely to make a profit from his 2023 harvest he’s decided to stop farming his 300 acres and rent the ground out instead. He says with that size of farm he doesn’t stand a chance. Unless you have 1500 to 2000 it’s impossible to make a living. We join him just as he prepares to sell all his machinery and start a new chapter.
